Chicky Birds!

I have wanted to get baby chicky birds for a couple of years now. I am going to do it this spring. I'm actually going to make my own incubator, and hatch my own little baby birdies. I found the instructions online. If for some reason I fail miserably at this, I'll buy some baby chicks. I only want a few, so I will either give the roosters away, "fix" them, or eat them. I'm not so sure about eating them yet. I have no problem with the eating of the chickens. My problem is killing them. I would have to find someplace that will do that for me. I talked to someone today who said these places do exist around here. I was raised in the city, if you haven't guessed by now. I think mostly, my chickens will be pets that lay eggs. I'll eat the eggs, but probably not the chickens. I'll probably get some geese and ducks too. I've read that duck eggs make great desserts, and that geese are good "weed-eaters" and "watch dogs". I am thinking that I'll get the chikens first, and maybe when they are bigger and start laying eggs, I'll slip some geese and duck eggs under the hens and have them raise them for me. I also found a breed of chickens called Americana that lay Easter egg (blue and green) colored eggs. I think that sounds SO cool, so I'll probably get one of those. I also plan on having a garden this year. I can't wait til Spring!
